Discovery Task #12: Novelist Tour

Yes, this is a great resource for the patrons. I was surprised to see the discussion questions, which also included detailed answers. I continued with the author Dai Sijie, and found three other books within the same genre. I plan on showing the Palisade Patrons this site.

Discovery Task # 11: Author Resources on the Web

There seems to be a new book club around every corner. They can range from the inspirational to material that would stretch your brain and turn it inside out. I found the Reading Group Guide excellent. What Book Club wouldn't find the "Discussion Questions" helpful. And to go along with the discussion questions were "Suggested Reading". Makes selection easy if you are having a hard time finding "a good book".
Using the Biography Resource Center I learned Mr. Dai Sijie was born in 1954. In 1984 he immigrated to France. Besides being a writer he is also a director of films.

Discovery Task #10: Explore Research Databases

Why would anyone want to know more than 100 articles on Sylvia Plath. Well for one you would be able to identify with her pain, especially since I am under stress with "will I finish in time". But really was it Sylvia, herself, that did herself in, or her Husband, Ted Hughes. Not to mentioned the "tensions hovering just beneath the surface of the American way of life in the post war period", which I would say is American today (post 9-11).

Discovery Task#9: Easy Web Design

The whole Web thing has come a long way since 1990 when it was done in code. I went to weebly and found out how easy it is to create your own web page. Wow. I was really surprised. When I have the time will finish.

Discovery Task#8: Share, Remix, Reuse--Legally

For my search I entered CC Art which took me to CogDogRoo for college teaching. And then I went to 30+ places to find Creative Common Media. My interface was Google. The patrons who would be helped in Palisade would be the middle schoolers. I could spend hours. Under the Case Studies I found the films which included "Dead Man Drinking". How not to go to the Video Store at 11 pm.

Discovery Task#7: A Sampling of Reader Resources

As a non-fiction reader this will provide me information for my patrons who read fiction. The ones I liked the best were Shelfari, and LitLovers. The one I noticed which included movies is AllReaders.

Discovery Task #6: ORE Tutorials

These are two great sites - which leads you to the same path. The customer is your employer. I plan on revisiting these sites as they are valuable and have great information. (Thanks for the info.)

Discovery Task #5: Millennium OPAC

The OPAC is a tool I am encouraging the Patrons to use more. I especially like the tool to access the cover of the book, the table of contents, and a summary of the book. Hopefully they will get into the book bag which I thought was easiest.

Discovery Task #4 Facebook

Yes, I do have an account. And have searched for many, many people. And actually create a photo album.

Discovery Task #3: Website Scavenger Hunt

This was a good idea. Most of the time we don't have time. Liked the Site map, and Academic Journal database. Second time improved score. TG

Discovery Task #2: Fun Time-Pandora & Last FM

I did look at both sites - and found Pandora easier to understand. Favorite new music 6 Underground.

Discovery Task #1: Created a Blog

Okay, starting all over again. I did create a blog. I like the part where you can change your template.
